Q. I am a term employee (not to exceed five years) participating in FERS. My term is ending in April. If I get a permanent position prior to that, what happens to my annual leave and sick leave. Does my term time count toward retirement?
Q. I am retiring under CSRS in February. With my three years, 11 months and 10 days in the Navy, plus sick leave, I will have 42 years and eight months CSRS and be 62 years and five months old. On advice of our HR office, I never paid my military deposit back since I was planning on retiring federal and only had 31 Social Security credits. I have looked in the Office of Personnel Management site and the Fedweek CSRS retirement manual and neither says it will not reduce my annuity if I don’t pay the deposit. Can you help?
Q. I am a FERS employee who will be retiring in June with 30 years at age 56. I understand that my 10½ months (1,759 hours at present) of unused sick time will be added to my annuity. I also understand that at my salary of $56,810, my monthly annuity with almost a year of unused sick time is only an additional $40 per month. Am I correct, or am I missing something?

Q. I will have approximately 600 hours of earned sick leave when I plan on retiring. Can use my sick leave to extend my retirement date by the number of hours of sick leave I have instead of having it credited to my annuity?
Q. In February, I will have 29 years of service as a postal clerk. It is my understanding that after Dec. 31, I can have 100 percent of my sick leave. I know they won’t pay it to me. I have saved more than 2,600 sick leave hours. In what form will I get it back? I still have to work my full 30 years.
Q. I am a federal firefighter (GS-10-00) with 27 years of service plus four years active-duty military (bought back). I will be 52 years old this year (2014). If I retire, when will the earned income rule begin to apply to me? At age 57 to age 62? Also, 2014 marks the year that FERS employees can begin receiving credit for unused sick leave toward retirement. I have gotten preliminary estimate of retirement but they calculated over 1,000 hours less than what I have. Is the sick leave supposed to be creditable for full 100 percent, or is it less?
