Q. I am in CSRS looking at any deposits owed. I worked in the legislative branch from Feb. 2, 1978, to Jan. 2, 1983, and paid FICA only. At the time I left the legislative branch, I became Ramspect Act eligible and was able to work noncompetitively for the Defense Department. Will I owe a deposit for my legislative service from Feb. 2, 1978, to Jan. 2, 1983, under CSRS?

Q. I am a CSRS employee with 34 years in at age 64. I plan to retire in April. I earned my 40 credits prior to being a federal employee. I do not plan to sign up for Social Security until I turn 66. As I understand the windfall elimination provision, I will go into retirement receiving whatever CSRS annuity I arrange and when I sign up for Social Security, I will maintain the CSRS annuity but receive a reduced amount of Social Security. Correct?

Q. I plan to retire in June 2015, at which time I’ll be age 62 and have 38 years of government service. I was covered by CSRS for the first 21 years and switched to FERS in 1998. I will have both CSRS and FERS components to my pension. The FERS portion is calculated at 1 percent per year on the high-3 salary, with an additional 0.1 percent per year for those age 62 with 20 years of service. I already have well over 20 years of service, but only 17 years will be in the FERS portion. Will the…

Q. I have received my final annuity estimate from human resources and am awaiting my final retirement date, with the Office of Personnel Management receiving all my records for a final computation. Human resources has deducted me for a nonredeposit from 1966 to 1969, for which I did terminate government service in 1969 (1966-1969). I then came back and re-employed from 1983 to the present. It’s been over 40 years, and I don’t recall filling out CSRS SF 2802 for a refund of my contribution for those three years. My notification of personnel action (SF-50) had a notation that OPM…

Q. I’m retiring this year with 33 years of service under CSRS. I’ve earned enough credits (however do not have 30 continuous years of Social Security) to be eligible for Social Security. Will the WEP affect what I would get from Social Security, and reduce my retirement annuity? Or will I be able to collect my full retirement annuity but just have a reduced Social Security check?

Q. I started working for the Postal Service in August or September 1977 and resigned in June or July 1997 without withdrawing my retirement money. I have been working as a teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District since July 1997. 1. Is there any way to get specific counseling on my benefits? 2. How could I calculate my pension since I don’t know the salary rates I earned? 3. If I fill out my retirement papers now and write my wife’s name as beneficiary, what would happen if I divorce before or after starting to receive my pension?

Q. I have worked for the Postal Service for nearly 15 years. If I resign and go work for the state of California, will I be able to claim annuity when I am old enough to retire? I am 42. Will I lose the time I spent with the Postal Service, or will I be able to get both federal and state retirement?
