Q. Can you give me an address where I can check to see if I am eligible for any type of benefits through my deceased spouse? He worked for about 10 years with the Postal Service and several years with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. I do not remember his grade level. He passed away in 2009 and I have been told there are probably benefits that I can draw from, but I do not know whom to contact.

Q. I am presently active-duty Army. I enlisted in 1981. I had a break in service. I worked in the Postal Service for 10 years. I have a total of 19 active-duty years. How does that work as far as retiring from the Army? Can I retire from the Army now? If I do 20 years on active duty and retire from the Army, can I get credit for 30 years federal retirement time?
Q. If I retire from the Postal Service at age 56, can I work a part-time job after I retire, or would I lose my benefits? The part-time job would not be for the federal government.
Q. The Postal Service said I could put in for disability retirement, but I may have money in my FERS account. How do I go about checking it, then take the money out?
Q. My wife wants to retire from the Postal Service, under FERS, with 30 years service but she’ll only be 50. Am I correct in understanding that she will be eligible for a deferred retirement at her minimum retirement age of 56 without any reduction to her annuity? What about the special retirement supplement? I’m assuming she won’t be eligible for that. She’s been on my Federal Employees Health Benefits plan for the past 25 years. I’m also a postal worker. So can she get her own individual plan, or must she stay on my family plan? I was told…
Q. I am a 48-year-old with 25 years of service with the Postal Service. My office will be reduced in September 2014 to a six-hour office. My husband was a retired Marine with a service-connected death. What are my options with the Postal Service plan? Can I be RIF’ed and can my pay be cut? I have veterans’ preferences documented on my Form 50.
Q. When I retire, I plan to keep my Federal Employees Health Benefits coverage. Will my payment remain what my portion was, or will the government portion be added to it to increase my out of pocket expenses?
Q. I am a Postal Service employee under FERS. I plan on retiring at age 57 with 27 years of service. I want to get the special retirement supplement until the age of 62, then wait until 66½ to collect Social Security. Will my taking the supplement lessen my Social Security payment when I get it at 66 and six months?
Q. I will be a 37-year, 55-year-old retiree under CSRS and will be retiring in October 2015. I know I have unfunded service time early in my postal career. Casual, Emergency Rural Sub, etc. And I understand that I can fill out a SF-2803 to find out about payment for those unfunded years. If I do nothing, will the Office of Personnel Management automatically generate a statement for me either during my retirement process, or soon thereafter letting me know of this amount in hopes to raise my annuity by that amount?
Q. I worked for the Postal Service as a full time letter carrier for 23 years. I left the Postal Service in 2008. I would like to know what the value of the retirement account is if I took the cash out now in a lump sum?
