Q. I worked for the Postal Service for 12 years and then resigned in 2005. If I had stayed, I would have had 20 years in this past August. After getting a state job, is there any way that I could use my years of federal service in conjunction with my state time toward retirement (early, etc.)?

Q. I got a letter from the National Association of Retiring Federal Employees stating, “Federal agencies are now re-employing federal retirees on a limited part-time basis without an offset to their annuity.” Can you explain this a little further? How would I find and apply for one of these positions?
Q. Is reinstatement possible at age 67? I voluntarily retired in 2005 after 38 years in the Postal Service.
Q. I work part time while on federal service. If approved for FERS disability retirement, I understand I can earn up to 80 percent of what was being earned by federal service. Does this take into account military retirement annuity, present earnings from my part-time job performed from home and the amount of the disability annuity? What is taken into account in determining wages/self-employment to ascertain reaching the 80 percent authorized amount?
Q. I started working for the Postal Service in 1983. I also worked before that for the Navy and other places and have received a Social Security Administration statement saying I will be eligible for Social Security benefits at age 66. Is there a percentage that is deducted from either my Postal Service retirement or Social Security benefits? What is CSRS Offset? Am I in that, or would I know if I were?
Q. I retired in 2004 under the D.C. Police and Firefighters Retirement System (Metro Plan) and immediately re-entered the federal government as a permanent full-time employee. My second career will consist of 11 years. I assume I will be able to continue to receive my current annuity and draw a smaller second annuity from my 11-year service. Is that true?
Q. If a person is receiving law enforcement pay after mandatory retirement (worked as a counselor for the Bureau of Prisons), will collecting unemployment affect the law enforcement pay?
Q. I understand that the first 20 years for law enforcement officer annuity computations are as follows: .017 x your high-3 x 20 years. The remaining years would be computed using the standard formula: .01 x your high-3 x all years over 20. Are the annuity computations for LEO before taxes or after taxes?
Q. I am 61 years old. I will have 30 years with the Postal Service on April 9. I have 735 hours of unused sick leave on the books. I am on workers’ compensation, still a USPS employee and on leave without pay. Can I retire (NOT disability retirement) right now and use my unused sick leave hours to reach to my full 30-year retirement date of April 9?
Q. I have been recently awarded disability as a FERS law enforcement officer. Will my disability be canceled when I hit my minimum retirement age, or will it continue until I am 62 or have recovered, whichever is first?
